Many social media websites have taken initiatives to block harmful tags. One of the most notable blocked tags on social media is thinspiration, which is an underground movement that glamourizes and offers tips to maintain harmful eating disorders.
But, it looks like “depression” has now been flagged on Tumblr.
We often browse topics on depression tags at Mental Health America of Illinois, especially on Tumblr where people can open up about their struggles, share advice and coping methods or post about news. It seems strange that the most common mental illness in America is being flagged on a growing social media site like Tumblr.
Anyone know what happened? Is depression being stigmatized on Tumblr? -SS
